I dedicate this post to congratulating Charlie for being awarded the 2007 “Personality of the Year Award” by the Academy of Country Music!
Many people believe that its cool to know someone “famous!” A lot of people look at Charlie as being famous, and we kid with him often times about that, but Charlie is quick to downplay the classification…he simply wants to be known as a regular person!
I am proud to say that Charlie is a great friend of mine…and not because he is famous. I am thankful to call Charlie my friend because he is a great man. I can tell you that he has won his award for 2 reasons: 1. Because he is talented (Duh!)…one of the greatest talents out there. 2. God has blessed him, greatly!
I am thankful to say that I know Charlie because of who he is, so much more than what he has done in the radio business. Charlie is a radical follower of Jesus Christ, and he doesn’t hide it. Charlie cares for the broken, the hurting, and the afflicted. That’s who Jesus told us to care for.
He has a huge vision for letting God use him in great ways. Charlie has been a firm anchor during some tough storms in his life, as well as for others, while they were facing some rough times. Many people only get to hear the man on the microphone, the humor, the opinions, etc.
I am thankful to know the man behind the microphone, to serve God with him, to dream BIG with him for our community, and to see God do great things through him.
Charlie I love you and your family! I thank God for you and your friendship. There is no one more deserving of your award than you! Congratulations!!!

So as I said…
I was not positive on all of the players that were drafted. I’ve been way to busy to research them before the draft, so I gave the Falcons a grade of B- to C+…
Well the expert “Mel Kiper” has spoken and needless to say, I wasn’t that far off…pretty good I guess since I didn’t know any of the players except 1. Here is Kiper’s review:
Atlanta Falcons: GRADE: B
Defensive end Jamaal Anderson was really the only option with Joe Thomas and Levi Brown gone. Plus, Anderson fills a need on defense. Justin Blalock is a big body up front and can play either guard or tackle. Cornerback Chris Houston would have been a risky pick in the in first round, but he presents good value in the second round. WR Laurent Robinson has a lot of talent, but is raw and needs to show he can make the tough catch in traffic. I thought taking him in the third round was a little high, but he does have ability. I really liked what Atlanta did Sunday. Stephen Nicholas has a very good shot to be a productive linebacker. I also liked the pick of TE Martrez Milner in the fourth round. He needs to work on his pass-catching skills, but he is a very good blocker. David Irons, at best, is a reserve defensive back; center Doug Datish could have gone in the third round, and he will provide some versatility, and Daren Stone is a developmental safety and special-teams player.
