Baby Carnes #3

Nicki is pregnant with our #3 child. I have been wanting to tell people for 2 weeks now, but Nicki insisted that I did not, I guess it was funner to keep it a secret? Hmmmm….anyway, I delighted that the secret would finally come out when Nicki went back into the hospital for the last 6 days, and it did. Our parents were the only ones that knew for a long time, and it was really tough for my mom to keep it under wraps, but she did it.

Anyway, of course Nicki wants a girl, I could care less…I am more interested in a healthy baby. One more boy gets me closer to developing my very own sports team, but then again if its a girl she is more than able to play for the team as well.

More Holiday Fun!

As of yesterday, Nicki spent the last 8 of 9 days in the hospital. She came home yesterday, but was in for New Years Eve and the first part of New Years Day. That makes 2 holidays that Nicki spent in the hospital versus my 1 (Thanksgiving). And before you think about calling me to complain about not calling you to tell you Nicki was in the hospital…this time you can direct your calls to little Mrs. Nicki, as it was she that demanded I do not call anyone!

Last month it was my turn, as I have posted earlier about my Appendectomy on Thanksgiving day, so for 2007 our holidays have turned into trips to the hospital which has been no fun! Overall Christmas turned out to be good, but it certainly did not start out that way.

Do Not Waste Christmas

Perry Noble has a very sobering post on his blog, here is an excerpt:

I had no idea that night when I went to bed that my mother had just spent her last Christmas with me. I imagined there would be more, lots more—with food and gifts and her laughter. But in July of that next year she was diagnosed with cancer…and she went on to be with Jesus in November at the age of 49.

The next Christmas was silent for me—I did receive gifts and we had a tree…but the joy was gone. I distinctly remember thinking, “If I had only known last Christmas was going to be her last I would have spent WAY more time with her.” I had made the mistake of thinking, “Everyone will be here next year.” But they weren’t…which leads me to…
