50th Birthday Poem: "A Special Lady"

Here is the poem that I wrote for my mom to honor her on her 50th birthday. I tried to capture her the best I could. I presented her with a laminated copy of the poem tonight at her birthday, I think she liked it. I am not a very skilled poet.

“A Special Lady”

A very special lady turns fifty today
So we celebrate in a special way
If you’ve met her once, you’d think she’s a friend
Her love is so deep, her heart draws you in.

God, family, and country she holds dear
A faith so strong it cast out all fear
A selfish claim to call her my own
Everyone she meets; they all feel at home.

Mom, Aunt, and Grammy too
Her love and devotion are not limited to a few
Sister, cousin, and friend
Everyone knows that “Mother” is her trend.

A very special wife to a very manly man
She can make him blush like he’s wearing a tan
He has always captured her heart’s passion
Their bond is a portrait of true Godly compassion.

So here’s to Diane who means so much to us
I’m sure she’ll say we shouldn’t have made a fuss
We honor you now for your special day
That glorious 50th Birthday!
